Our Lady of Grace Conference

Meeting of Thursday 06/06/2014

Since our last meeting on 22/05/2014 our Vincentians have undertaken a total of 12 visits to people in the local community and in hospital, helping with shopping, supporting people to get to the post office and befriending those who are sick or housebound.

Members also attended the District Council meeting at St James the Less, Rawtenstall, which commenced with Benediction and the Rosary in the church led by Cannon Lupton.  The meeting then took place with the hosts being very welcoming and providing a comfortable venue and good range of refreshments.

Your prayers are asked for all who have been bereaved. Oh Mary, Mother of Christ.   You knew the sadness of mourning those your heart loved most, Jesus your son and Joseph your spouse.  Pray for all who have been bereaved.  Ask God to send the Holy Spirit to bring them peace lest bitterness, false guilt, or regret take root in their hearts.

Our Lady of Grace Conference Meeting of Thursday 22/05/2014

Since our last meeting on 08/05/2014 our Vincentians have undertaken a total of 9 visits to people in the local community, helping with shopping, supporting people to get to mass and befriending those who are sick or housebound.

A number of communion grants and other grants have been distributed to those in need and donations of clothes and bedding have been made to Cornerstones.

Your prayers are asked for a gentleman who is critically ill with cancer and a lady in hospital with a very bad leg.  Lord God we pray for all those who are sick especially those in our local community.  Keep them ever mindful of your loving presence, bless them with your powerful healing and bring them and those who love them comfort and peace.

Our Lady of Grace Conference Meeting of Thursday 08/05/2014

Members of the OLOG SVP attended the Central Council Festival meeting at Thornleigh on 27/04/2014. The meeting started with a mass and was followed by a series of very interesting presentations made by children from a Mini Vinnies group and a Youth SVP group. They explained how their groups worked and the way they helped the other children in their schools and in their communities. A presentation was then made by ‘CC’ a representative of the SVP1833 (a group for those aged 18 to 30) who told us about the work they do with people who are homeless and how it had affected him.

Since our last meeting on 25/04/2014 our Vincentians have undertaken a total of eight visits to people in the local community either helping with shopping, taking people shopping or to the post office and supporting others to get to mass.

Two members attended the SVP induction day at St Peters, Middleton on 03/05/2014. This involved a series of presentations on the history and structure of the SVP, safeguarding and guidance regarding visits and was a very interesting day.

St Vincent de Paul we pray that we may commit ourselves to follow your example selflessly and try to do the same charitable acts that you did all your life.

Our Lady of Grace Conference Meeting of Thursday 25/04/2014

A collection for the SVP was held at masses at Our Lady of
Grace on 05/04/2014 and 06/04/2014. It raised a total of £691.48, some of which was gift aided. Everyone is thanked for their generosity, which meant that a total of nine families could receive Easter grants.

Since our last meeting on 04/04/2014 our Vincentians have undertaken a total of thirty visits to people in the local community, helping with shopping, assisting others to do their own shopping, get to the post office or attend appointments and supporting people to get to mass.
Your prayers are asked for a gentleman who is critically ill with cancer and for all sick and housebound in our local community. Lord Jesus we pray for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need. May they find consolation in your healing presence and join us in thanking you for all your gifts.
